STEEL STRING ACOUSTIC GUITARS The six and twelve string traditional "D" size guitars are slightly larger than a true "D" size. These instruments are available in a number of different materials. Current inventories of back and side sets include: Indian rosewood, Brazilian rosewood, mahogany, flamed koa, bigleaf, birdseye and European maples. For those interested in alternative materials, currently available woods include: wenge, Cambodian rosewood, flamed walnut, padauk, flamed myrtle and the exquisite and extremely rare quilted and flamed mahogany. (There are often more choices available.) Necks are most often one-piece mahogany built in the same style as detailed in the semi-hollow description. Rosette is flamed koa and boxwood. Fingerboards are ebony or Brazilian rosewood. Inlay is brass ringed abalone or standard dot inlay. More elaborate work TBA. The adjustable truss rod is used in all steel strings. Wooden binding is also standard. Graphite laminate top bracing is used in conjunction with several types of "X" bracing to achieve desired goal. Oval sound holes are available but will affect the rosette design. Radial bracing patterns are offered for the back as well as impedance matching bridge designs. Trap doors are available for the tailblock structure, as is SOUND BUBBLE top technology. This requires in-depth discussion, but for some it is a great solution to their desired goals. The design involves a carved bubble in the bass side of the soundboard with a flying "X" brace to allow great separation of tones in complex chords and a very even response, achieving a type of hybrid between arch-top and flat-top guitars! This top design is not available anywhere else. Steel String Prices |
